The dissertation examines professional approaches of English teachers at vocational schools. In a first step, the empirical study analyses the organisational structures and the framework guidelines of language teaching. After that, three different "teaching types" are defined as ideal-typical examples of professionalism.
The data was collected by means of problem-centred interviews. The author uses the gathered information to create a competence profile for the training and further education of teachers at different school levels and provides suggestions and ideas on how teaching can be refined in practice.
